WE ARE THE TURKISH NATION
WE CAN OVERCOME THE DISASTER
Cemre Buğlem YER & Miraç ÖZÜER (7th Hunters)
The devastating earthquake that hit ten cities in
Türkiye on the 6th February twice has had
tremendous effects. About 45,000 people passed
away, millions of people lost their houses and
became homeless. The immediate damage is
estimated at $34 billion but the cost is still rising.
However, there is also an indirect cost and this will
be much higher. The recovery process will be
neither easy nor quick.
The Turkish Tradesmen and Artisans
Confederation estimates the total cost of the
earthquake at $84.1 billion, the biggest part of the
fee which is $70.8 billion, will be for housing, with
lost national income pegged at $10.4 billion, and
lost working days at $2.91 billion.
Our state is covering the wounds of earthquake
victims with all its means. With the great efforts of
the Turkish citizens, financial, physical and
psychological aid is being provided.
