UMKE
The National Medical Rescue Team (UMKE) is the
institution affiliated to the General Directorate of
Emergency Health Services of the Ministry of
Health, which consists of volunteer health
personnel in order to provide adequate and
qualified health services at home and abroad for all
kinds of disasters.
WHAT ARE UMKE'S DUTIES?
With the training and equipment they have
received, they arrive at the scene of disaster as
quickly as possible and provide medical assistance
to the injured.
AFAD
AFAD emerges as an
institution that helps citizens
during and after all kinds of
disasters. What the acronym
AFAD stands for is a matter of
curiosity but we know that it is the Disaster and
Emergency Management Presidency. Among the
duties of AFAD are the management of disaster
activities organized within the scope of our country
and carrying out studies for emergency response.
AFAD provided assistance to earthquake survivors
in many ways in the great disaster we experienced
recently.
Several NGOs also assisted the search and rescue
work in the earthquake. Türk Diyanet Vakfı, IHH,
Ahbap Derneği, Yedi Hilal Derneği and hundreds
of other foundations worked hand in hand, from
day to night at the disaster area.
Some very meaningful campaigns are also
organized. Here are two of them.
TÜRKİYE TEK YÜREK
Destructive earthquakes caused
destruction in Kahramanmaraş,
Hatay, Adıyaman, Gaziantep,
Adana, Osmaniye, Malatya,
Diyarbakır, Şanlıurfa and Kilis. After
the Kahramanmaraş earthquake
that hit 11 provinces, the 'Turkey One Heart'
earthquake donation campaign was launched. In
the 'Turkey One Heart' earthquake aid campaign
wasbroadcasted on Show TV, ATV, FOX, Kanal D,
Kanal 7, Star TV, TRT 1 and TV8 screens on the
evening of February 15; Turkey's leading business
people, celebrities and sports athletes announced
their donation amounts. Here is the amount of
donations collected for the earthquake relief
campaign:
According to the amount announced at 02:54 in the
"Turkey One Heart" earthquake aid campaign;
115.1 billion TL donations were made.
SMS donations in the earthquake aid campaign
reached 9.1 million TL.
EVİM YUVAN OLSUN
According to the statement made by the Ministry,
the "Let My Home Be Your Home" campaign was
launched with the aim of solving the housing
problem of those affected by the earthquakes. The
campaign received 4,568 donation applications in
3 days. While 3,604 people wanted to allocate their
houses to the earthquake victims for 3 months free
of charge, 964 helpful citizens applied to rent their
houses for 1 year at a discount.
All in all, we are a great nation with a powerful
government. We have experienced an earthquake
with devastating results but we are fixing it
altogether. We know that the impact of the
earthquake will continue for a long time but we will
attempt to solve all of the problems, inshallah.
