Once upon a time, there was an old man who lived in Istanbul. The old man lived in a village in Istanbul. He had three sons and two grandchildren. But they moved to the city centre when they finished the University. The old man got very unhappy because of his loneliness. He lived with his neighbors. He went swimming, he played golf, read newspaper, watched TV… But nothing changed.
Five years later, the old man decided to visit his sons.
When he arrived in Istanbul, he thought that he must start from his eldest son. When he went to his son’s house, he was shocked. Limousines, chefs, gardeners, cleaners, an enormous house… Then the eldest child came out. He had very expensive clothes on his body. He invited his dad inside. That was a brilliant house. The old man decided to do a test for his children. He asked to his son;
“Can you buy everything with money?”
His eldest son said; “Yeah, dad. I’ve got a factory, I can buy everything. If you need something; I can buy for you” The old man thanked for his kindness. Old man went away and got into the bus to his second son. When he came, his son came out, kissed his dad’s hand and invited him inside. Old man looked at the house; his son was in middle class and he asked;
“Can you buy everything with money?”
His son said; yes, dad everything in the world is being sold with money. I ruined my work. I have got just a little money. I don’t know what’s going on with us. The old man took about 500 liras from his pocket and said; ”use it for your needs” Than his son thanked him and the old man got on the bus again to go to his last child. When he came his son, welcomed him at the door. They entered home. And they chatted. The Old man was unhappy of something. His son, his son’s wife and their children had bad time. They were so poor. The old man asked;
“Can you buy everything with money? Is your money enough?”
His son said; “Oh dad, of course not. Yeah, our money isn’t enough but our happiness is enough.” We can’t buy everything with money, we cannot buy love, happiness and pride with money. We can’t buy Heaven with money! We believe in Allah others are not important. And I’ve got a job too.
