Most of the schools have uniforms for students to wear, and there are uniforms in our school too. There are strong supporters and arguments for this issue, but in order to understand the conflict, you must understand all of the advantages and disadvantages of wearing a uniform.
First, I’ll talk about the benefits of school uniforms. The pressure to buy children, especially the older ones, trendy and expensive clothing is huge for parents. School uniforms are often much cheaper than buying various trendy clothes.
Another point is we all know most of the schools have uniforms. School uniforms make the schools look neat and good. The uniforms have school logos or the school’s name on it. So, when a stranger sees a person with a school uniform, they understand that they are in that school. People may learn about the school when they see the name or the logo on the uniform. So that can be good for the schools. But what do the students think about it?
Now I’ll talk about what students think about it, also what are the benefits of it.
Actually it depends on the student or parent but most of the students think that school uniforms are useless. They want to wear what they want, not a uniform which someone else chooses. I think they are right, we should wear what we want. But when we wear what we want, what can happen?
Firstly students can wear things that aren’t nice and respectful. Also as I mentioned above, some people won’t be able to see the school’s name. This will be bad for the school. And the school won’t look neat.
Secondly, clothing is an important way to express who you are. School uniforms take this right from the students and can make them feel they are oppressed.
All in all, although there are so many advantages, students shouldn’t wear school uniforms. It’s oppressing and boring. Students can be more creative and self-confident if they wear whatever they want.
