Hello my name is Abdülbaki. The meaning of my name is the servant of Allah, who is eternal and immortal, ever-existent, and has no end in existence. I will tell you the story of this long and not so often seen name. So, here we go. Years ago, before I was born my parents were living in Germany.

My mom couldn’t have children and she was so sad about it and she was praying a lot. Once she came to Turkey and she visited her grandma. The doorbell rang and she opened the door. There was a man at the door. She didn’t know but he started to talk. He said: “You’ll have a child but you must name him …. He told lots of names one after another. My mom liked and chose the name “Baki”. Then she went to do something -I don’t know what- and the man disappeared. My mom searched the meaning of Baki” and learned that it’s one of Allah’s names. So, she named me “Abdülbaki”. My dad liked the name Eren so my name became Abdülbaki Eren.
When I was little I couldn’t pronounce my name so, I called myself Akabi and it became my nickname. My friends usually call me Akabi. I get along with my name although it is not an easy one. It’s because it’s the story or I just got used to it.
