I asked my mom why they named me “Miraç” and here is the reason. My mom said that my name came from one of her friend’s sister. When she was little she loved her so much and she wanted to give this name to me. When I was born she said to my dad and my dad agreed but actually he didn’t like it.

And when my dad and my uncle went to apply for my identity card, they decided to call me “Miray” but then they thought my mom will get mad and kill them. And they said okay to “Miraç”. Also, my mom was thinking about “Aybüke” but later she decided on Miraç. When I was at primary school I thought that my name was so bad and actually there are lots of boys with the name “Miraç”. So, I wasn’t also happy about that.  I was thinking like that and something happened to me. I went to a hospital because of my diabetes and there was a young group that gave gifts to children that have diabetes.  And there was a cute girl whose name was Hatice in my room. The young group took our names and the other day there were two gifts in our room .I took the packet on which Miraç was written and I opened it. And my trauma was right there staring at me. I opened it and there was a ‘car coloring book’. And Hatice’s gift was a ‘Barbie with clothes’. I was so shocked. But then I colored it with Hatice. After that day I started to hate my name more and I also hated people who didn’t know me asking if I was a girl or a boy. But, now I love my name and I think it’s a challenging name.
